Many old south German tavern and brewery names have been preserved until today. The times when taverns all had well-sounding names like "By The Golden Eagle" or "By the Golden Lamb" are long gone. In today's brewery names, however, often parts of the old names are still in use, especially the denomination of the animals that were hanging outside the tavern as a figure or a plate
